A frequent door to disaster. When using a Quija board, you are opening a random door to the other side and inviting anything near that door in. Anything can come through and there's lots of bad stuff out there. Once something comes through that door, that's it. You can't force it back out. If it's something nasty and it likes you, you just won the crappiest prize
possible.Seances
You are advised to stay away from this practice for the same reasons you shouldn't use a Ouija board (see above).
Black Magic / White Magic (sometimes spelled with a "k" at the end)
"But isn't white magic good" you ask? Well, maybe. I don't know enough about it to make an educated judgment. I do know however that almost all magic calls upon spirits and other supernatural forces to be effective. No magic is
generated from within the practitioner. It is the practitioner's power over these external forces that constitutes the art. Here's the catch: No one spirit (certainly not a mortal's) can have absolute power over another spirit (or whatever else). This leaves a lot of room for deception and problems. Just like in the world of the living, you may think you're the boss, but you may easily be deceived or even overturned by an "underling". If you are already a practitioner, be aware of this and
use extreme caution. If you are not a practitioner, you are advised against it. Some of the arts I have come across are: Santeria, Candomble, Voodoo, Paganism, and other forms of the art labeled under witchcraft. I know some very nice people who practice in some of these arts, but I still don't think it's a good idea.
If you are put into the tricky situation where a magic practitioner who is a friend of yours wants to help you with your problem, keep the above paragraph in mind. If they are
not extremely proficient, they may actually do you more harm than good, and now is no time to play double or nothing. My advice is to politely refuse and to deal with the problem yourself. This may not be what you want to do in times of spiritual desperation, but it is my advice. No one wants to deal with these things alone, but it is the only way to to successfully defeat darkness and
keep it at bay afterwards. Someone who helps this time may not be there the next time around. Learn to fight for yourself. The only person you can always count on to be at your side is God. That may sound cheesy, but it has saved me every time and it will save you if your faith is strong. None of the magic arts has ever helped me, but my faith has, and it can help you as well.
I should also make mention of people who offer spiritual services (like getting rid of your nasty problem) for a
fee. Be very weary of these people. My advice is to stay away from them altogether. Here's the reason why: These people are the practitioners of the arts described above. They have countless "things" and perhaps persons on the other side in their service. You do not want to be exposed to any more of that. There is no guarantee that the practitioner is of good moral standing either. Some have been known to actually give
you something nasty and then charge you for removing it. After a short while, since the practitioner and his/her minions know you and know where you live, the "thing" will come back to bother you again so that you have to get rid of it again. This turns into a nasty little spiritual extortion scheme. Not all magic practitioners are bad, but there are enough bad ones to avoid them all just to be safe.
Haunted Places
If you know a place is haunted. Don't go
there! Simple as that. If you do go because you're curious, don't be mad if you bring something nasty home with you. If you go to a place that feels "really creepy" or very very uncomfortable, leave. Certainly do not move in!
Tarot Card Reading
Often viewed as a "harmless" practice like the Ouija board, Tarot card reading use the reader's sensitivity and spiritual forces to divine things that are hidden from us (for a reason). I won't make any blanket
statements, but there are many "bad" decks out there that do not bring about the best spiritual company. I know there are "good" decks out there as well. Again, if you are already a practitioner, use extreme caution and use only good decks. If you don't know which ones are good and which ones are bad, don't bother learning. Just stay away to be safe.
